  • Notes
    • James was a blacksmith in Rehoboth. He was a private in Capt. Bishop's company which marched from Rehoboth to Lexington on 19 Apr 1775, and was in service a number of times during the war. At the initial muster, his service was for 8 days. He reenlisted 11 May 1775 for service of 2 months, 3 weeks, 5 days in Captain John Perry's Company and Colonel Timothy Walker's 22nd Regiment. The Company return was dated 6 Oct 1775. An order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money was dated at Roxbury on 26 Oct 1775. He was living at Wrentham near the close of the war. From there he went, perhaps to Rhode Island.
