- Abiel is found on the 1790 census of Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts living in a household with 1 male over 16 (Abiel), and 3 females (possibly his wife, oldest daughter and one other.)
In 1794, Abiel moved his family to Winchendon, Massachusetts, and then to Marlborough, New Hampshire, but moved back to Winchendon where he died.
He is found on the 1800 U.S. census of Worchester County, Massachusetts living in a household with one male 26-45 years old (probably Abiel), one male under 10 years old (probably his son, Abiel, who was about 7), one female 26-45 years old (probably his wife), one female 10-16 years old (his oldest daughter would have been 11), and 4 females under 10 years old (he had 4 other younger daughters at that time).
He held the commissions of ensign and lieutenant in the militia.
